Sara Dale, Psy.D. Group Therapist
Dr. Sara Dale has been providing clinical services to University of Washington students for over 9 years; she currently serves as a staff psychologist and outreach coordinator at the UW Counseling Center, where she has worked since 2002. Sara received her doctorate from the Forest Institute of Professional Psychology in 2003. Her training and subsequent professional career centered on college student mental health, with a sub-specialty in eating and body image concerns. She has served on the dissertation committees of two graduate students who are conducting research on body image and Health at Every Size-based treatment approaches, and has provided clinical supervision to numerous psychology doctoral students over the years. Additional areas of clinical interest include mood disorders, relationship struggles, and identity issues.
Sara’s clinical work is grounded in a feminist, multi-cultural perspective that suggests that struggles with food and weight are not simply individual concerns, but are rooted in a larger cultural context. She currently leads the Body Image group at Opal, where she strives to help clients relate to their bodies in new ways through exploring personal experiences and challenging cultural norms.
