Uses She/Her pronouns
Akiko Laurendeau is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and Certified Dietitian in Washington State ( D160872397 ).
Akiko got into nutrition due to her own history with disordered eating. She received her BS in Nutrition & Dietetics from Bastyr University. Acknowledging the hold her ED still held over her, she took two years away from her career path to work on her own recovery. When she felt ready, she completed her dietetic internship and began work as a Clinical Dietitian at a local hospital. Disenchanted by the heavily weight-centric and dehumanizing environment, she set out on her own and opened her private practice in 2021 where she works with clients on developing self trust, body neutrality and healing their relationship with food.
As a fourth-generation half-Japanese American raised in Montana, she navigates the intricate intersection of race, food, and body image with a keen eye for systemic barriers. Her advocacy extends to ensuring equitable access to treatment, particularly for BIPOC and marginalized communities. She enjoys deeply connecting with her clients and learning about how their unique identities have shaped their understanding of themselves and the world around them.
Akiko has advanced training as a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor.
Outside of work Akiko enjoys reading, cross stitching, lap swimming, video gaming, and entertaining her mischievous cats, Momo & Tofu.
