Brittany has a pending Washington State Department of Health Registered Counselor Agency Affiliated License.  (#CG70054962).

Brit is a mental health intern and third year Clinical Mental Health Counseling student at Seattle University. She was drawn to Opal as it closely aligns with her personal mission: help people reconnect with and find joy in their bodies and communities after experiences of interpersonal violence and shame.

Brit graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2018 where she led the Women’s Club Soccer team and received a BS in Computer Science. She brings with her experience as a competitive athlete and software engineer, both identities she’s chosen to leave in the past. This involved a long process of releasing perfection, restriction, and prestige. She acknowledges that reforming one’s life and identity can be uncomfortable. She believes growth occurs through discomfort and she is honored to support clients as they grieve former ways of being and explore what aspects of their identity will carry them into a fulfilled and connected future.

As a counselor, she takes a holistic approach, considering clients within the context of their experiences, families, and larger social systems. She acknowledges that clients are their own experts, and sees her role as an advocate and supporter, offering new perspectives, noticing patterns, and fostering the client’s attunement to their intuition. Her jumble of identities include: white, cis-gendered, thin, able-bodied, het-presenting, queer, neurodivergent, woman. Brit is committed to using her skills and privileges to increase equity and stay curious about the nuance of the human experience. She often reads literature about the ways historical, economic, and socio-cultural patterns shape society’s subconscious ideas of “normalcy”.

Brit is excited to be a part of Opal’s Exercise+Sport program, helping clients rethink what movement is, and their inherent right to joyful movement. Brit took up dance as an adult and it has been a monumental aspect of her mental and physical healing.

In her free time you may find Brit in a dance studio, painting, beading, eating with friends, reading, skiing, climbing big granite walls, or napping on the couch with her dog little B.
