Chiara has a license as Agency Affiliate Counselor with the State of Washington (CG61441207)
Chiara received her Bachelor of Sciences from Loyola University New Orleans, where she completed a double-major in Psychology and Criminal Justice, along with a minor in Women’s Studies. She is currently pursuing her Master of Social Work degree at University of Washington – Tacoma.
Chiara was born and raised in Seattle, and entered the world of dance at a very young age. During that part of her life, she experienced her own struggles with body image and disordered eating habits which eventually led her down her own path of therapy, recovery, and now professionally to Opal. She believes that finding and fostering strong interpersonal bonds that extend beyond a client’s diagnosis were key in her own therapy and recovery experiences, and hopes that clients at Opal will be able to experience that source of healing during their own recovery journey. She is passionate about dismantling the patriarchal and racist structures that enforce and profit off of negative body image and help cultivate and foster diet culture. She is committed to using her privilege as a cis-gendered white female to uplift the oppressed and amplify the voices of those who have been systemically and generationally silenced. She wants to become a therapist, and is passionate about anti-racism, Health at Every Size, queer and indigenous liberation, sex therapy/sex positivity, trauma work, and increasing the accessibility of mental health care for all.
In her free time, she enjoys traveling, engaging in movement that makes her feel strong, spending time with her loved ones, listening to music, baking, reading, and watching movies. She is a Libra, someone who loves to give and receive hugs, a proud auntie of two beautiful nieces, and a cat-lover (who also adores dogs).
