Melanie spent her childhood in Alaska, eventually moving to the “lower 48” to attend college in Tacoma, WA. After graduating with a degree in English, she felt drawn to the bustling of Seattle, where she has now lived for over 10 years.
A voracious reader, Melanie has worked in bookstores and as an editor, but now feels called to return to school and pursue a career in mental health. Her own experiences seeking help and finding relief through individual and group therapy inspire her to be the bridge for others in finding interventions and therapeutic practices that benefit and support them.
In addition to the written word, Melanie loves to express herself with visual art. She has worked in many mediums from printmaking to digital illustration to fiber crafts. She is especially interested in where art and therapy can overlap in helping individuals express themselves and find healing.
