A Place for Growth, Not Perfection

Opal began with a vision to meet a community need—creating a safe, local space for eating disorder recovery that challenges conventional diet culture. Founders Julie, Kara, and Lexi came together with a shared commitment to a non-diet, weight-inclusive approach, rooted in Health at Every Size®. Their mission was, and remains, to provide accessible, compassionate care for people of all sizes, free from the harmful norms of traditional treatment models.

Expert Care, Real Connections

Through their journey, Julie, Kara, and Lexi have committed to learning and unlearning how privilege and oppression intersect with eating disorders. They prioritize understanding diverse experiences and making space for marginalized voices in their work. As friends and leaders, they hold each other accountable, blending personal growth with professional dedication to offer truly equitable, transformative care.

The Untold Realities of Orthorexia

Orthorexia is a complex mental health condition that often involves an intense anxiety around healthy eating and labeling foods as “unhealthy,” along with a rigid focus on food purity. The signs can be hard to spot—culturally, weight and health myths blur the lines. Our team specializes in helping clients and their families gain clarity on what might really be happening.

Orthorexia is not always visible. It can affect people of all shapes, sizes, and backgrounds, and may carry significant health risks. Many people assume that focusing on healthy eating is always beneficial, but for those experiencing orthorexia, this focus can develop into a complex and restrictive relationship with food. Compassionate, comprehensive care is essential to help individuals find balance and well-being in their approach to nutrition.

What are the benefits of a PHP?

Individualized Support

Despite the shorter duration, the PHP offers the same evidence-based components as residential programs, ensuring a comprehensive and effective treatment experience.

Continuity of Care

The PHP provides a structured and consistent treatment environment, ensuring individuals receive ongoing support and guidance throughout their recovery journey.

Therapeutic Intensity

Despite the part-time schedule, the PHP offers intensive therapeutic interventions, providing individuals with the tools and insights necessary for meaningful behavioral change.

Holistic Healing

The PHP offers a holistic approach with therapy, nutrition counseling, medication management, family support, movement coaching, nourishing meals, therapeutic groups, and more, all in a caring and supportive environment.

What is the Partial Hospitalization Program (IOP)?

Our PHP offers the highest level of care in an outpatient setting, supporting you in stepping away from daily obligations like work or school to focus entirely on your recovery.

Use the form below to submit your contact information and schedule your Phone Intake.

After you fill out the form, you will be redirected to our scheduler.

Phone Intake

The free phone intake will take about 30 minutes and will be with a member the Intake Team. By the end of this phone call, you may receive a referral to outpatient services, a recommendation to complete an Opal Face to Face Intake for PHP/ IOP treatment, or a referral to an outside treatment facility.

Insurance information will be gathered so that coverage and cost can be determined.

Face to Face Intake

The last step in our intake process is a 60-90 minute telehealth assessment with a Master’s level mental health clinician. Based on the information gathered, we will make a recommendation regarding the most appropriate level of care for your treatment.

If we can offer the recommended services at Opal, we will then begin the process of setting up your care plan.
