Stephanie is a Registered Agency Affiliated Counselor in the State of Washington (#CG61581176).

Stephanie received her B.S. in Psychology from the University of Washington in 2023 and is currently pursuing her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Antioch University Seattle.

Growing up in a Chinese immigrant family, Stephanie has seen and been affected by
the silence and stigma around mental health in her communities. In college, Stephanie became aware of how traditional Western mental health care has historically left behind, alienated, and harmed marginalized communities. Since then, her learning as a student and future practitioner is rooted in multiculturalism and social justice. She understands that a person’s relationship to food and their body must be considered in the context of all their intersectional identities. She hopes to work with Asian American and BIPOC clients in particular to address the effects of systemic oppression and collective trauma, and provide culturally responsive care.
In addition to her desire to work with BIPOC and marginalized folks,

Stephanie’s interest in the counseling field is influenced by her love of storytelling. From the narratives we inherit from our families, to those shaped by our experiences with trauma and hardship, and those that nurture hope and resilience, she believes that storytelling is core to the human experience. It is a source of connection, meaning-making, and a way to articulate and understand the self in relation to the world around us.

At Opal, Stephanie hopes to support clients in deconstructing narratives that no longer serve them and help reconstruct narratives that center recovery, community, and joy.

Outside of work, Stephanie is a homebody at heart. She enjoys reading (adding books to her never-ending to-be-read pile), writing (staring at a blank page), cooking for others (making a mess in the kitchen), and working on anything crafty (changing hobbies every month).
