Maja has a Counselor Agency Affiliated Registration License (#CAAR.CG.70158320) in the State of Washington.

Maja is a recent graduate of Western Washington University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, as well as minors in sociology and honors interdisciplinary studies. During her undergraduate studies, Maja interned at an emergency foster care shelter where she discovered a passion for working with children and teens experiencing crisis. During her internship, Maja saw first hand how systemic gaps fail so many members of our communities, inspiring her to pursue a masters of social work in the future.

Maja’s passion for eating disorder care was influenced by her own experience of an eating disorder as an adolescent. She understands how engrained diet culture and fatphobia is into all aspects of our life, and how this disproportionately affects minority identities. During her time at Western, Maja joined her university’s Health at Every Size club where she participated in discussions on how to combat diet culture on and off campus. Additionally, Maja completed a mentorship program through the National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders where she provided support to an individual in recovery.

At Opal, Maja is excited to support clients in their recovery journey, and feels lucky to be able to watch clients succeed and grow. Maja hopes to help clients find joy in food and peace in their body. She feels privileged to be trusted by clients and fellow staff to support and witness other’s recovery process.

Outside of work Maja enjoys cooking and baking for herself and others, spending quality time with her loved ones and cats, and spending as much time as she can outdoors.
